Learning Adviser (London, UK)

Background

The Humanitarian Leadership Academy is a team within Save the Children UK’s Humanitarian Department whose mission is to enable people around the world to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. The Academy works to address the critical need for better quality, more relevant humanitarian learning and knowledge that is accessible to all those who need it. The Academy works with a wide range of partners, drawing on the knowledge, expertise and resources of a range of sectors to demonstrate how collaboration can ensure the best solutions are found for those most in need.

Our aim is to ensure that communities are prepared in advance with the knowledge and skills they need to respond quickly and effectively to a humanitarian situation. We want to build the resilience of communities and businesses, ultimately limiting loss of life and mitigating the devastating impact of disasters and conflict.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on individual with the confidence and intellect to challenge conventional thinking and ways of working. As Learning Adviser, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of learning products and services for both the Save the Children movement and the Humanitarian sector.

The role will be pivotal in shaping and delivering the Academy’s learning offer to those individuals and organisations working in the humanitarian space. It will enable the Humanitarian Leadership Academy to continue to reinforce and build on its understanding of the demand for learning amongst those working in response to humanitarian crises globally. The role will enable the academy to analyse this demand for learning and deliver a relevant and appropriate pipeline of quality learning, including the provision and customisation of learning solutions to meet the needs of different audiences and organisations.

The Person

To be successful, you will need to have experience in blended, user-centred learning design, be keen to share knowledge and insights with others and know what it will take to deliver quality and sustainable learning solutions that will meet the needs of individual learners or organisations. You will need a passion for learning, enjoy working in fast-paced environment, and be a collaborative member of the team. Strong communication and inter-personal skills are essential. You will need to be confident to take the initiative and think strategically and creatively to find the best learning solutions but also be hands-on to operationalise the solutions into practice. Project management experience is welcome and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities as well as working across teams globally.
