The Philippines Academy Centre signed a partnership with the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) on 23 January 2017. NATCCO is the biggest federation of cooperatives in the Philippines reaching around 3.7 million individual members through 805 rural and urban-based cooperatives with 1,662 offices in 77 provinces and 129 cities.

The partnership aims to build the capacity of cooperatives across the country in preparation for and response to disasters. This will be done through learning programs and knowledge-management initiatives, documentation and knowledge-exchange, ensuring that initiatives on disaster risk reduction and management subscribe to internationally-accepted standards, concepts and practices; and propagating Kaya, the Academy’s online learning platform among member-cooperatives.
