The Philippines Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in partnership with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy Philippines launched the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System online course on August 3, 2018.
The course is a digitized version of the OCD’s face-to-face training. This is the first course in the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) 101 eLearning series.
Through interactive activities and specific examples, learners will be acquainted with basic technical know-how on key concepts, legal framework and thematic areas of DRRM in the Philippines setting. They will be guided through the Philippine disaster risk profile, the paradigm shift in the Philippine DRRM system, and the four thematic areas of DRRM. They will also have the opportunity to come up with a personal commitment on DRRM in the country. The course takes 60 minutes to complete.
The launch was held at the OCD’s Operation Center in Quezon City with Assistant Secretary Nicanor Faeldon, Deputy Administrator for Operations; Curriculum Development Division Chief Manuel Rivera; and other members of the OCD leadership in attendance. The Philippines Centre handed over the Kaya kiosk to the OCD to support the promotion of the course.
