Richard joined the Humanitarian Leadership Academy as Treasurer in June 2017. Richard has been a partner at PwC since 1997 and currently a member of the Assurance Executive and heads the firm’s the Assurance practice’s risk, quality and technical functions.
Prior to this, Richard headed PwC’s capital market, accounting advisory and structuring practice following 6 years in the firm’s corporate finance valuation practice, and a secondment to PwC Switzerland. Significant transaction work includes significant demergers and mergers and a number of other capital market and due diligence assignments. He also has had audit responsibilities as a partner on 3 FTSE 100 clients.
Richard was Honorary Treasurer of Save the Children in the UK from 2004 to 2015 and Chair of Merlin (Medical Emergency Relief International) from 2013 to 2016 where he oversaw its merger with Save the Children. Richard is currently a Member of Council of Wycombe Abbey School, a Governor of the John Lyon Foundation, a Trustee of the International Rescue Committee in the UK and a Trustee of the Start Network. He was appointed CBE for voluntary service to International Development through Save the Children and Merlin in the 2017 New Year’s honours.
