As the HLA’s Fresh Humanitarian Perspectives reaches its first anniversary, we reflect on a year of insightful discussions and global reach.
Over the past 12 months, 12 episodes have been downloaded and listened to by audiences in 105 countries. The podcast – designed to foster informal and accessible conversations within the HLA and our network – has hosted guests from Australia, Georgia, Jordan, Kenya, Philippines, Türkiye, Ukraine and the UK.
Fresh Humanitarian Perspectives tackles a broad range of topics and thematic areas including a spotlight on regional capacity strengthening work; humanitarian careers; diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI); immersive learning in the humanitarian sector; and the Humanitarian Xchange.
Launched in February 2023 with a conversation between Gareth Owen (Humanitarian Director at Save the Children UK) and Pawel Mania (HLA Deputy Director – Impact and Influence), the podcast episode explored the urgent need for a new approach to humanitarian aid, focusing on the first phase of the SHIFT programme (formerly known as Engine 2) in Ukraine.
This programme, now extending its reach to the Türkiye-Syria earthquake response, is laying the groundwork for a transformational response and system-wide impact.
Fresh Humanitarian Perspectives remains committed to providing a thoughtful platform and meeting ground for discussions within the global humanitarian landscape.
Join the reflective celebration and stay tuned for more engaging conversations ahead! Fresh Humanitarian Perspectives is available on major podcast platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
