Global connections
The Humanitarian Xchange connected over 800 humanitarians across Baghdad, Uganda and Port Sudan in 2025
How it all started
Humanitarian Xchange (HX) provides collaborative space for knowledge-sharing, peer learning, and cross-sectoral dialogue among humanitarian practitioners, local responders, funding partners, academicians and researchers globally.
“The largest gathering of humanitarians in the UK for over 50 years.” – David Ball, Founder and Chairman of event partner Brandfuel Ltd
In February 2024, the inaugural Humanitarian Xchange (HX24) held in London, UK and online, marking a significant milestone in fostering global dialogue in the humanitarian sector. The event was hosted by the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA) in collaboration with founding co-partner Save the Children UK and event partner Brandfuel
After being named best Charity Event/Event for Positive Change at the Conference and Event Awards Ceremony that same year, HLA went on to hold Humanitarian Xchange in Gaziantep, and Sarajevo in partnership with Save the Children International Türkiye Country Office, Save the Children International Syria Response Office and the Balkans Migration and Displacement Hub (BMDH).
In 2025, with support from Google.org and the Centre for Disaster Philanthropy, HX continued convening passionate humanitarians and organisations – holding contextually tailored events in Baghdad, Kampala, and Port Sudan. Including online only webinars covering specific humanitarian topics.
