Senior Finance Business Partner

Join our team at Save the Children UK as the lead business partner for the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA), providing high-quality ROI analysis to drive the best value for money from investment and support the successful implementation of our strategy. As Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead financial planning and reporting, provide financial analysis and commercial insight, and drive strategic-decision making to maximise impact.

About the role

As Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead financial planning and reporting, provide financial analysis and commercial insight, and drive strategic decision making to maximise impact.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Head of Finance Strategy, you will act as the lead business partner for the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA), providing high quality ROI analysis to drive best value for money from investment and support successful implementation of our strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to act as a truly strategic partner, working as part of the HLA leadership team to lead on financial strategy, working with and influencing strategic decision making.

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead development and provision of strategic and financial decision support to the HLA to drive strong financial and commercial performance and innovation, while limiting risk.
  • Lead the development and delivery of monthly reporting and profitability analysis to underpin regular review of performance.
  • Lead the design, development and review of complex business modelling (e.g. profitability analysis) providing the inputs underpinning departmental and divisional financial planning (in-year forecasting, budgeting and longer term financial planning) and forming the basis of investment decisions and business cases.
  • Partner with and influence senior leadership in developing their strategy, appraising business cases for investment spend, providing financial and commercial insight and challenging to ensure best value for money and efficiencies.

About you

You’ll be an experienced qualified certified accountant with relevant post qualification experience in the commercial or not-for-profit sector, or a blend of both!

You’ll have excellent stakeholder management skills, with the proven ability to work collaboratively and influence the decision making of a diverse set of senior stakeholders, to resolve issues and achieve goals.

To be successful, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Experience leading complex financial planning processes and producing consolidated financial modelling, reporting and analysis for senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce modelling to underpin investment decisions and to inform financial forecasting, budgeting and long term strategic financial planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well the ability to identify financial issues as they arise, assess their likely impact and devise appropriate responses.
  • Ability to develop awareness of commercial issues facing the sector and to understand the wider competitive and market environment.
