Learner spotlight: Meet Augustino

Please share a little about yourself and work

I’m Augustino Biong Wol, I reside in Alek Aguok Town of Warrap State, in South Sudan.

I have been involved in humanitarian works for about two years and I currently work as a Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) Counselor based in Twic County of Warrap.

I’m a fast learner and I am passionate about learning new things and I’m innovative!

What does your role involve?

As MIYCN Counselor, I’m responsible for the planning and implementation of the infant and young child feeding (IYCF) program.

How did you first hear about Kaya?

I was guided by a manager whom I worked under her supervision on a short term project.

I was ambitious and curious in developing my skills – that’s how I started consulting people about the best online learning platforms that deliver quality trainings, which will help in enhancing my skills and knowledge. With the support of my former manager, I joined Kaya.      

How long have you been on Kaya?

I have been learning for two years now.  I have completed 20 courses and three courses are in progress.

Which is your favourite course on Kaya and why?

MEAL DPRo is one of the favourite course I have ever completed on Kaya because it has helped me gain more comprehensive skills in managing humanitarian projects.

Additionally, doing MEAL DPro courses on Kaya has given all the confidence I need to manage MEAL systems in an organisation.

Has learning on Kaya changed your outlook or approach to humanitarian work?

Most definitely! Having started taking up free online courses on Kaya, my capacity has sufficiently developed, and I have attained substantial knowledge and skills that would have taken long to be learnt from a person. Learning on Kaya has equipped me with valuable skills.

Moreover, it was through Kaya that I learned about LinkedIn and I’m currently an active member on LinkedIn. I am always kept posted about humanitarian operations and opportunities and I have also been able to interact with other professionals.

Additionally, I have been performing to a higher standard because of the diverse range of courses that are freely delivered on Kaya.

Kaya has also equipped me with adequate knowledge on how online learning works. Learning online is a substantial and complex skill and I’m now familiar with it.

Kaya has positively impacted my life in many different ways, and I have eventually realised that I have grown professionally after passing job interviews with World Vision International and GOAL Global with the aid of knowledge and skills that I attained from courses that I take on Kaya.   

Kaya has also given me a great opportunity to network with different nationals and I have been able to makes friendship with them.         

Have you earned any badges on HPass? If so, which one are you most proud of?

Most definitely! I am proud to have achieved a badge in the FIELD Introduction to Managing Projects in Humanitarian Settings course.      

Kaya has positively impacted my life in many different ways, and I have eventually realized that I have professionally grown after passing job interviews with World Vision International and GOAL Global with the aid of knowledge and skills that I attained from courses that I take on Kaya.
